M02 - What is the scope of the HSE (MAC/RAPP) module?
Last Updated a year ago

The HSE (MAC / RAPP) module allows a simple estimation of the level of risk of tasks in which the worker performs operations that involve lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing and/or pulling loads.

As a qualitative initial assessment application, when the result of this rapid assessment does not allow determining the level of risk or acceptable conditions and/or when, despite the implementation of corrective measures, a hazard still exists, a specific assessment using quantitative methods (e.g. Single/Multiple/Variable MMH modules) is required.

The module is an application of the methods: “Manual handling assessment charts (the MAC tool)” and “Risk assessment of pushing and pulling (RAPP tool)” produced by the UK's national regulator for health and safety at work, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
